Senior Chinese ministers echoed those remarks. When unrest broke out in Kazakhstan recently, Putin accused the US of attempting to sponsor a “colour revolution” – a term given to protest movements that seek to change the government – in a country that borders both Russia and China. But today Moscow and Beijing have embraced the rhetoric of counter-revolution. In the heyday of communism, Russia and China supported revolutionary forces around the world. According to the Chinese media, Xi told Putin that “certain international forces are arbitrarily interfering in the internal affairs of China and Russia, under the guise of democracy and human rights”.Īs Xi’s remarks to Putin made clear, the Russian and Chinese leaders are united by a belief that the US is plotting to undermine and overthrow their governments. But after a period when both countries have sparred persistently with the US, Xi’s support for Putin reflects a growing identity between the interests and world views of Moscow and Beijing. Russian President Vladimir Putin, left, and China’s President Xi Jinping have made it clear they believe America’s ultimate goal is to overthrow their governments.Ī decade ago, such a relationship seemed unlikely: China and Russia were as much rivals as partners. When Vladimir Putin travels to Beijing for the beginning of the Winter Olympics on February 4, the Russian President will meet the leader who has become his most important ally – Xi Jinping of China. But as the Ukraine crisis reaches boiling point, Western efforts to isolate and punish Russia are likely to be undermined by the support of China, Russia’s giant neighbour. The Western alliance has threatened the Kremlin with “massive” and “unprecedented” sanctions if Russia attacks Ukraine. ![]() They execute them so frequently, in fact, that keeping a tidy workstation becomes a way of life for bartenders. While bar managers are responsible for creating bar cleaning checklists, it's ultimately falls under bartender duties. You'll still want to know how many shots in a handle so you don't run out in the middle of service. Point is, these are not drinks ordered directly from the bartender by guests, but by other restaurant and bar staff. The service bar is the little area on the side of the bar where bartenders make drinks and put them for servers to pick up and run to their tables in the dining room. Often, servers will be ringing in drinks and the bartender will need to fill those drink orders and place them at the service bar. It also helps bars create signature cocktails, which can be huge profit drivers if they take off, especially if they're made using well liquor. And then they’re ready to unleash their inner mixologist.Ī familiarity with mixology allows bartenders create drinks on the fly for guests who may not want what’s on the menu. Then a bartender has a good feeling for the primary liquor types and how they interact with mixers and juices. This is where familiarity with the main liquor families (brandy, rum, gin, whiskey, vodka, and tequila) brings huge benefits. We also explain the primary liquor families and what does one part mean right in our bartender’s guide. We put together a list of the cocktails every bartender should know which is a part of our bartenders drink guide. They'll also need to know the standard pour for each drink sold so they can maximize profit. If a bartender commits 30 cocktail recipes to memory, they can probably handle 75% of orders that come their way. Knowing the ClassicsĬheck out any of the hundreds of “most popular cocktail” lists on any given year, and they’re all pretty similar. Depending on your state, you may also need to attend alcohol server training. You should also know how to pour a beer, but that seems less impressive to customers. The second is being familiar with the basic ingredients to experiment with them and make original cocktails. The first is knowing all the classic cocktails. The mixing and combining of ingredients-alcoholic and not-is the big kahuna of bartender duties. They can also use these recommendations to upsell cocktails and walk away with a little more money that night. With a few questions, a bartender can make great recommendations that can turn an otherwise standard experience into a memorable one. There is a world of difference between the winter cocktail on your menu and a bartender genuinely recommending the winter cocktail on your menu. That’s why curating hospitality experiences is so important. Should they order this? Should they order that? A bartender will push them over the edge of indecision. People naturally look for reasons for things. Do what you can within your resources to provide a good experience. In bar and restaurant terms, this is hinted at with phrases like “killing them with kindness” or “going above and beyond.” But the reality of being a flexible service professional is simple. While sticking to the menu is easier, there are a lot of people out there who need something on the menu tweaked just so. That breaks down into two pieces: flexibility and recommendations. A bartender is responsible for serving their customers at the bar. The first bartender duty is a social one. Whether you’re writing a bartender job description, coming up with bartender interview questions, considering going to bartending school, in bartending school earning a bartending certificate or license, or learning how to become a bartender on your own, focus on these 7 bartender responsibilities and you’ll be golden. We spoke to the bartenders we know and came up with a list of 7 of the most important bartender duties and responsibilities and a handy bartender duties checklist to go along with it. Don’t you want to pull up a stool? If you’re anything like other Americans, you probably do. One of the really great bartender duties is when bartenders lean on the bar with a towel thrown over their shoulder and a welcoming smile. ![]() We armed ourselves with dust masks, safety glasses, gloves, and sharp utility knives. I highly recommend the first step of ANY renovation project be to remove everything that isn’t bolted down out of the space and then unbolt and remove anything else. We had already gutted the inside of our RV which made the process much easier. Now picture all that happening above your head. If you’ve ever removed carpet from a floor then you know how dusty and dirty it can be. If you are looking for more ideas on how to upgrade your camper ceiling see my article Ideas to Update Your RV Ceiling. Speaking of bills, overall the cost the ceiling tiles came to about $0.82 per square foot plus the cost of the glue. Since our RV is mostly grey tones the silver birch fit the bill. The company carries both a pine look and a silver birch look plank. Then I found their wood plank style tiles and they just seemed perfect. They had several options, some were very similar to a tin tile look which didn’t help with the less busy idea. ![]() I eventually ended up on the Antique Ceilings website whose tagline is “Sophisticated Alternative to Tin”. I knew we needed to stick with a light and airy feel since we have a small RV. I started off looking at tin ceiling tiles but I was afraid that they would be too busy for the space and make it feel smaller. ![]() Ending up with a finished ceiling that we weren’t happy with just was not an option. This option was only briefly entertained as it seemed like it would be very difficult to get a smooth finish. It would be literally a pain in the neck. Paint was our back up option if we couldn’t find a better solution but I REALLY didn’t want to paint the ceiling. There was also a hole we needed to patch where the antenna crank handle came down, but the handle was broken and we figured we didn’t need a TV antenna anyways. There was a lot of residue left behind by the carpet glue that would have required sanding, all the gaps between the existing ceiling panels would need to be filled as well as any staple holes. We would have needed to do a substantial amount of prep work to give the ceiling a smooth finish or else create a textured effect to hide the issues. While certainly an inexpensive option, paint is always labor intensive. Overall it seemed like more work than it was worth. The white particle board chips easily when cut, and the nails or staples tend to go all the way through the board.Īlso, We would need to install trim along the walls and cabinets. We’ve done this sort of install before in the bathroom of a brick and mortar house and it was a pain. We quickly poo-pooed this idea since it would involve a lot of cutting awkward shapes around the cabinets. The first idea was to use thin particle boards then glue and nail them to the existing ceiling structure. If you are unsure about how many tiles to order, our team is always happy to help. There were a few options that we looked at before settling on the foam ceiling planks. This is to allow for any waste and to ensure that you have enough tiles to cover the whole surface area. We recommend ordering 10% extra tiles for regular ceilings, or 15% – 20% extra for irregularly shaped ceilings. For more detailed information please click on the additional information tab. You can leave the raw edges as they are or add crown moldings. We also recommend planning the edges of your ceiling. This is always great for those rising energy bills! ![]() They also add some extra insulation to the room which means that it will be warmer in winter and cooler in summer. You can leave them as they are or you can paint them if you like. These planks arrive unfinished and unpainted. After they are installed, you will never need to look at your old popcorn ceiling again! You will need a caulk gun, adhesive, and a cutting tool. Our styrofoam planks are designed for glue-up installation only. In case and you choose to change the theme of the room, you can be sure that your ceiling will still complement the new style! This classic design means that they can be used in just about any room. These planks are even lighter than our PVC ceiling tiles which means that they can be installed in no time! To procure the highest quality fixtures such as fuel tanks, stanchions, chocks, pulpits, deck plates, and masts, the company started to build and design their own products as Manset Marine Supply Company in 1940. The Hinckley Yacht Company has been an innovator on many fronts. In 1945, Hinckley built the first Sou’wester sailboat which grew to a fleet of 62, the largest single-design boat of that era. Construction of the first Hinckley sailing sloop came five years later: the 28-foot Sparkman & Stephens design was the first of 20, and was the company’s first production-line boat. That was just the beginning of the company’s attention to detail and durability. The younger Hinckley built his first motorboat in 1933, a 36-foot fishing vessel named Ruthyeolyn. ![]() Hinckley took over the business and set to work using his engineering degree (with studies in aeronautical and mechanical engineering) from Cornell University. Plus, it is a really cool boat to ride in and drive around, if you can afford one of course or lucky enough to have the opportunity to drive one. SO, the data provided just shows that the engines are performing as expected and maybe then some. The reason I really posted this is because anyone that knows anything about Jet propulsion knows that the impeller is nothing more than a water pump which in turn acts like a water brake dynomometer. This is part of what you get when you buy a Hinckley, strong after sales customer support and great attention to detail. Hinckley has a lifetime warranty on all of their hulls, I find it hard to believe that they could do that and stay in business if they delaminate that easily. I have been on the tour, it was very interesting. They take people on tours of the Trenton production facility and have some pretty interesting video of their testing in very rough sea with the early production hulls. ![]() Not so sure about the delamination, I am pretty sure that they spend a lot of time in hull development and materials, in fact they have a very interesting process with laying up their hulls.
